Paddling with Plastic Patrol

Updated: Nov 24, 2023

Holmlands joined environmentalist and adventurer Lizzie Carr on her latest #PlasticPatrol in London this weekend, as part of an ongoing bid to help clean up Britain's water ways.

We joined Lizzie on day four of her ten day UK tour, taking to the canals by Limehouse Basin, with our stand up paddle boards, buckets and little pickers; to collect as much plastic waste and rubbish as we could find.

Lizzie, who founded #PlasticPatrol in 2017, became the first person in history to paddle board the length of England’s waterways in May 2016. She successfully completed the 400 mile challenge solo and unsupported in 22 days, plotting over 2000 photos of plastic pollution she encountered along the way.

As Founder of #PlasticPatrol, Lizzie is taking on the enormous challenge of ridding Britain's inland waterways of plastic pollution, whilst engaging people with the issue of plastic pollution through adventure and nature, helping to safeguard our seas for the future.

Our Founder and Director, Cameron Hall says, "we are full of admiration for Lizzie's endeavours and her work with #PlasticPatrol and were delighted to help provide our support by playing a small part in the London clean up operation. Plastic pollution is one of the biggest issues of our time and the more people take action by joining and supporting initiatives like #PlasticPatrol, the better the world will become."
