Brett Wild is a submariner with the Royal Navy who has been released on secondment, working as a guide for visually impaired skier Millie Knight, who lost 92% of her sight by age six.

Millie was the youngest member of Paralympics GB and flag bearer for the team at the Winter Paralympic Games in Sochi 2014, where she secured two fifth place finishes aged just 15.

Struggling to find a guide for the winter games in PyeongChang she reached out to Brett, who skied raced for Scotland at junior level before joining the Navy in 2012. After teaming up in 2016, the pair haven’t looked back since.

The duo are World Para Alpine Downhill Champions, having secured gold at the World Championships in Italy in 2017 and represented ParalympicsGB at the Winter Paralympic Games in Pyeongchang, South Korea in 2018; where Brett guided Millie to two silver medals and one bronze.

Holmlands worked with Brett before, during and after the 2018 Winter Paralympic campaign to help raise his personal profile, securing targeted media coverage, managing speaking engagements, brand partnerships and commercial sponsorship opportunities.

A key part of our brief was to ensure that Brett was recognised as an athlete in his own right, and not just be seen as Millie's guide.

Stand alone media interviews were secured for Brett with The Daily Record, i News, BBC Radio Scotland, Rock Sport Radio and The Sterling Observer, with local school visits arrange for Brett in Scotland.

Numerous targeted media opportunities were also secured to help promote both Millie and Brett as a team; with the importance of Brett's role on and off the mountain emphasised, alongside his credentials as a distinguished member of the Royal Navy.

Wider media interviews for the pair were secured with BBC News, Sky Sports, BBC Radio 5 Live, Channel 4 News,  CBBC, The Sun, Eurosport and more - with speaking engagements arranged across a number of corporate events north and south of the border.

Our work with Brett and Millie lead to the duo winning the Sporting Team Work Award at the Scottish Sporting Awards in 2018.

Support was also secured from Brett's favourite Football team, Nottingham Forest, with the players and staff providing encouraging messages of support ahead of their successful medal haul in South Korea.

We also provided ghost-writing and logistic services for Brett to help manage his time between Navy and Guiding duties most effectively.

We were proud to be sitting beside Brett's family in the stands in South Korea as himself and Millie secured three medals in PyeongChang.
