Holmlands and Protect Our Winters UK have joined forces to help to engage and mobilise the British outdoor sports community through our upcoming events series, in a bid to encourage people to take positive action towards climate action.

Protect Our Winters UK, launched earlier this year after the organisation was originally founded in the USA in 2007 by Pro Snowboarder Jeremy Jones. Since that time, Protect Our Winters has grown from a kernel of an idea into a worldwide network of over 130,000 supporters – a social movement on climate, designed to activate a passionate community and create the political will for meaningful action by government and local policymakers.

Equally, over the past decade, global temperatures have been rising along with snow levels, making our winters shorter year on year.

Passionate about the great outdoors, and with a special affinity for winter sports, Holmlands will be working alongside Protect Our Winters UK to spread greater awareness amongst the British snowsports community, emphasising the message that there is something we can all do to affect positive change.

Sandy Trust of Protect Our Winters UK says, "Holmlands clearly share in our passion for winter and understand the impact of climate change that we’re seeing before our very eyes. Profound glacial retreat has been witnessed in many regions around the world and volatile temperatures have resulted in inconsistent snow conditions. As far as the climate goes we’re in a no fall zone and we have to commit.”

He continues: “Through working together with Holmlands, we hope to tap into all the energy and excitement that people feel towards snowsports and to encourage them to take simple and rewarding actions so that we can protect our winters for future generations."

Protect Our Winters UK will be joining Holmlands as part of our nationwide MSP Films Tour throughout November and at our Après Ski London, live music night on Wednesday October 18th.

Founder and Director of Holmlands, Cameron Hall says, "It’s our duty as winter sports lovers to help organisations like Protect Our Winters UK reach this biggest audience possible. Through our nationwide film screenings and live music events, we have the perfect opportunity to speak directly to a core demographic of winter sports lovers to help Protect Our Winters UK spread the good word of their essential work."
