Holmlands Adventure Film Festival Player now live
Holmlands Adventure Film Festival has launched our online festival player, giving audiences the opportunity to experience our 2026 Official Selection from wherever they are.
While our live screenings bring filmmakers and audiences together in screening rooms and venues around the UK, we wanted to create another way for people to discover the films in our programme — with an on-demand collection of independent films celebrating adventure, exploration, the natural world and extraordinary human stories, brought directly to you.
With films from filmmakers around the world, the online programme brings together a diverse selection of short films, feature-length documentaries and special-interest collections, allowing audiences to choose exactly how they want to experience the festival.
The virtual experience works much like a physical festival screening: simply choose a film or collection, purchase your ticket and settle in to watch — only this time, the screening room is your own home.

We know that not everyone wants to watch an entire festival programme, so we've deliberately kept the online player flexible.
You can choose an individual film that catches your eye and purchase a single screening ticket, or explore one of our curated collections for a broader selection of films.
The collections bring together films around particular themes, including Shorts, Features, Natural, Winter and USA, making it easy to discover films that share a common theme, location or subject.
And for those who want the complete Holmlands experience, there's the Full Official Selection collection giving you access to the entire online programme for 2026.

Bringing independent adventure films to a wider audience
At the heart of Holmlands Adventure Film Festival is a simple idea: great adventure stories deserve to be seen.
Many of the films in our programme are independently produced, often by small teams or individual filmmakers who have invested significant amounts of time, energy and personal resources into bringing their stories to life.
Our live screenings will always be an important part of the festival, but the online player allows these films to reach audiences who may not be able to attend one of our events in person.
From ambitious expeditions and endurance challenges to intimate personal stories, wildlife and conservation films, mountain adventures and extraordinary journeys, the online programme brings together films we've handpicked and carefully curated as part of this year's Official Selection.
Supporting independent filmmakers
The online player isn't intended to replace the experience of seeing these films together in a cinema, and we'll continue to host live events and screenings.
Instead, it's another way for audiences to discover and support the filmmakers behind the work.
Every ticket purchased helps us continue creating opportunities for independent filmmakers to reach new audiences and allows us to keep developing Holmlands Adventure Film Festival as an independent festival.
An optional festival donation is also available with each virtual screening for anyone who would like to contribute a little extra towards the continued development of the festival.
Protecting the films
We also understand that making films available online can understandably raise concerns for filmmakers around piracy, unauthorised downloads and uncontrolled distribution.
That's why we're using Eventive to deliver the Holmlands online programme, with films protected through its studio-grade Digital Rights Management (DRM) system.
Content is encrypted and access is restricted to authorised ticket holders, with additional security measures including invisible Nagra NexGuard forensic watermarking to help identify the individual user and viewing session.
For filmmakers, this means the online player is a controlled, ticketed virtual cinema environment rather than an openly accessible video platform.
