Fancy joining Holmlands founder Cameron, and an adventurous international crew for an unforgettable week exploring one of Iceland's wildest and most remote regions?

From 28th April to 4th May 2027, Cameron and a group will be heading into the Westfjords aboard VHF Aurora for six nights of sailing, ski touring and exploration, travelling from Ísafjörður into the Jökulfirðir fjords, on the edge of the remote Hornstrandir Nature Reserve.

It's an adventure that combines remote mountain landscapes with life aboard a sailing boat, with the opportunity to ski from the mountains down towards the sea, explore the coastline and hopefully encounter some of Iceland's remarkable wildlife, from Arctic foxes and seals to whales.

The group will be living aboard VHF Aurora, a 60ft Clipper built in 1996 for Sir Robin Knox-Johnston's race around the globe.

For Cameron, this will be a return to familiar waters: he's previously completed two trips aboard Aurora and knows first-hand what makes this kind of adventure so special.

With the boat as a floating base, the experience is about much more than skiing alone. It's an opportunity to experience the Westfjords from a different perspective, travelling between remote landscapes and sharing an adventure with a small group of like-minded people.

The details

Dates: 28th April – 4th May 2027

Duration: Six nights / seven days

Location: Ísafjörður and Jökulfirðir, Westfjords, Iceland

Boat: VHF Aurora, a 60ft Clipper

Group: Eight people, with one place remaining

The trip includes the boat, crew and guide, all meals and non-alcoholic drinks. Flights, onward transport, ski touring equipment and alcohol are additional.

Seven people are already confirmed, with just one place remaining, with this trip perfect for passionate skiers with a love of adventure, a curiosity about wild places and an appetite for something a little different from a traditional ski holiday.

You should be a strong skier, where previous ski touring experience would be beneficial, but isn't necessarily essential. What matters most is a willingness to embrace the adventure, enjoy being part of a small group and appreciate that the experience is about much more than the skiing alone.

Conditions in Iceland can be unpredictable, so this is an expedition for people who value the journey as much as the turns — from life aboard Aurora to exploring remote landscapes and experiencing the Westfjords from land and sea.

If you'd like to find out more about the trip, ask questions about the boat or discuss the practicalities of getting to Iceland and arranging equipment, you can contact us here.

Please note: This is a privately arranged trip. It is not organised or operated by Holmlands Limited.
