Stomping it in London

A big thank you to everyone who joined us at The May Fair Hotel in Central London on Thursday October 28th for our UK Premiere screening of Matchstick Productions 'The Stomping Grounds'.

A busy crowd gathered in W1 as we welcomed passionate skiers from across the capital to one of London's most iconic and luxurious hotels.

Guests were entertained by live music from singer-songwriter Zac Pajak, head of the screening - playing a mix of original and cover songs, before a Q&A with Ada Konkolska, Senior Fundraising Officer, from our charity partners Disability Snowsport UK (DSUK).

In what's been a challenging time for the charity, Ada says, "All of us at DSUK want to say a huge thank you to Holmlands for having us at the event and to all attendees who generously contributed to supporting adaptive snow sports. We were delighted to raised hundreds of pounds on the night that will allow DSUK to subsidise lessons for 10 skiers or snowboarders! This amount could also help us purchase a set of outriggers to allow people with balance issues to feel more stable while skiing. Thanks to supporters like you we can continue the vital work of changing lives through snow sports and for that we are deeply grateful."

Ada continues, 'If you would like to be more involved with DSUK, we have many opportunities in partnerships, fundraising or volunteering. Next month we are launching the Alpine Lunch campaign, where we ask supporters to organise your own alpine themed lunch, raise funds for DSUK and celebrate the start of our favourite season. We also have live pasta class with pasta master from Italy with all proceeds going to DSUK, and many other exciting events and initiatives.

If you would like to find out more about how you can get involved with DSUK, please get in touch with ada.konkolska@disabilitysnowsport.org.uk / 07462166117

Our prize draw included over £5000 worth of goodies to give away - with items kindly donated by our friends at Surefoot London, Arc'teryx UK, Chilly Powder and Fantastic Services - with a big congratulations to musical chairs champion Ben - who not only won a pair of fully custom fit ski boots courtesy of Surefoot - but also won a holiday for two to stay with Chilly Powder in Morzine Avoriaz this winter!

In what's been a challenging period for events and independent small business, we were thrilled to see so many familiar faces in the crowd, where we recognise many of you from attending our first ever screening event for Matchstick Productions back in 2014. We sincerely thank you for your continued support.

Until next time, check out the event video below, with a full gallery of pics from the screening here - also published on our Facebook page - so feel free to like, share, tag and comment!

Finally, we would like to wish everyone a safe and powder filled winter - stay tuned to our channels for details on our future events and projects, and we hope to see you all again soon.
